DocSend virtual data room is a sophisticated platform for smooth interaction within a team and a straightforward transaction process. The service was founded in 2013 and headquartered in California, USA.
Due to the acquisition in March 2021, DocSend VDR became part of the cloud storage service Dropbox. The target of this agreement was to facilitate the end-to-end data management while providing tools for more significant business control.
Among the main features necessary for secure and convenient work, DocSend has a Q&A module, Google integration, fine-grained document permissions, user activity tracking, watermarks, mail-merge support, advanced file types, branding, etc. Since these options simplify complex operations and improve security, the software is the choice of non-profit organizations, technology, venture capital, media, investment management, and professional services. It is also well suited for board communications, fundraising, and investor relations.
DocSend offers a 14-day free trial. However, to find out what DocSend features are available during this time, contact the provider by filling out the form on the official website. Also, do the same for scheduling a demo.
DocSend support and deployment
DocSend customer support is available in several channels, depending on the chosen tariff plan. Typical options include: support via chat or email, dedicated account management, team or individual training, and personalized onboarding.
DocSend is a web application that works on most mobile and desktop browsers. But still, a user should check if their browser is up to date to make the program work as efficiently as possible. The best ones for DocSend are Safari, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome, as the provider offers stable support for them.
Unfortunately, the service does not offer any mobile apps, but it is available on Android and iOS mobile browsers to work with links on the go.
DocSend pricing

DocSend security
DocSend is built on PaaS Heroku, which is, in turn, based on Amazon Web Services. Amazon is known to manage risk and undergo audits to ensure it meets industry standards. Thus, Amazon data centers comply with ISO 27001, FISMA, PCI Level 1, SOC 1 and SOC 2, Sarbanes-Oxley. Moreover, for the secure transmission of encrypted documents, there is HTTPS/SSL protocol.
Concerning the access of DocSend employees to customer data, they can do this with the client’s permission only to service their account or resolve a problem. However, data review is rarely necessary in these cases.
Also, the software ensures data protection through the following advanced mechanisms:
Permission management. A VDR administrator can restrict the platform to domains and email addresses and apply an access passcode for a higher level of security.
Detailed file access. These settings allow you to control access to each file. For example, you can require the user’s email or NDA to enable them to view data, allow or block downloads.
Dynamic watermarks. In addition to the fact that users choose watermark text, colors, and position, they also overlay them on Keynotes, Word, Powerpoint, and PDF files. Moreover, when uploading multiple documents, it is possible to apply a watermark to each of them.
Activity tracking. In real time, administrators receive notifications of data views and details of how individuals interact with them.
Email authentication. For greater security, a visitor receives an email to verify their identity before accessing the storage contents. Besides, if there are no changes in the email address, then email authentication is valid for two weeks.
Secure e-signature. The option adheres to the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act and ESIGN Act, so DocSend data room guarantees the security of sensitive data during transactions. However, this compliance does not cover territories outside the United States.
Block list. If an unauthorized user tries to open a data link, you are notified immediately. Moreover, you can block that email address right in the notification. On the other hand, you can add a visitor to the Allow list, and the program will notify them about it too.
